A World Record with More Than 1,400 Kg (3,000 lbs) Catch at Carp Fishing Competition
Greensboro, NC (PRWEB) November 07, 2011
The World Record catch is attached to Zolt?n Kov?cs competition anglers team, the SBS Szi-Ko Team and to SBS Tactical Baits, the bait producing company owned by him since 2008. The SBS Szi-Ko Team set a world record with the catch of 1415,05 kg, between 20-24th June 2011, at the II. International Carp Angling Competition in M?r. The competition lasted for 96 hours. The key to the success was the method mix that had been developed in 10 months, and the corresponding hook bait, which intensively increases the food intake of the fish.
“This bait knows lot more than we expected. Physically I have never felt myself that tired since we were continuously catching fish in 96 hours. said Zolt?n Kov?cs, the front man of the team after the competition.
The SBS Tactical Baits is a company founded in England, and has more than 30 years of experience in baits production. The company has gone through a huge development since 2008. Since then professional experts support the tasks related to production, distribution, marketing, development and web-appearance. The main profile of the company is the experimentation and development of more and more effective baits for carp fishing. Thanks to the recently developed new baits, 2011 has become the most successful year of the company.
Besides the competition with the world record catch, the company also participated in the World Carp Classic competition held in France in 2011. This is the worlds largest, international carp-catching contest, where 130 teams from 24 countries participated this year. The SBS Tactical Baits was sector-sponsor this time, and the winner of the competition came out from the sector sponsored by SBS Tactical Baits. The company participated not only as a sponsor in the competition. The competitors of the SBS Szi-Ko Team won the first prize for the biggest fish of their sector with a carp caught at the weight of 24,80 kg. In aggregation, the team finished at the prestigious 7th place out of 130 teams. After the successful competition Zolt?n Kov?cs travelled to the French Rainbow Lake, where his partner caught a carp at the weight of 34,20 kg with one of the companys baits. The catches above 30 kg are recorded all over the world. Fortunately, it is not the first success of this kind in the history of SBS.
The SBS products have been launched in further European countries in the last 3 years, and interest is shown in the companys baits from overseas, as well. The companys website is available for carp anglers with unified design, in 5 languages. The products in the offer of the webshop have very detailed descriptions on the website. The different video materials and articles give the carp anglers further valuable information. This way they can acquire many tricks and practices to widen their knowledge in carp fishing.
The long-term goals of SBS Tactical Baits are among others the popularization of the Catch & Release campaign, to make the children like nature, to make the SBS products popular worldwide, research and development of new products. The SBS Tactical Baits hopes to satisfy many carp anglers with the high-quality products.

Old School Walleye Fishing Family Secrets
Fishing For River Walleye’s
Go ahead and do some research obtaining the list of state and providence record walleyes and you see that most of them were caught in rivers. River fishing walleye is by far the best place to fish if you are looking for trophy size walleye. You have probably already figured out that the main reason rivers hold stable populations and record size walleyes is because rivers do not get the same fishing pressure that lakes get.
Many Walleye fisherman spend their time river walleye fishing when cold fronts have slowed the fishing in close by lakes.River walleyes seem to ignore, or are not effected by a incoming cold front. Also, head to the rivers in late summer when walleye fishing begins to slow down because of rising temperatures and plenty of natural food to eat.River walleyes will continue to feed in the same places in the fall unlike on a lake where the walleye will be scattered because of the water starting the fall turn over.
Big rivers to the north will surprising have many portions that are open water all winter long. Amazingly, rivers will have open water fishing all winter long in the tail-waters of dams, and warm water discharge areas.
The new walleye angler typically has more trouble learning river walleye fishing then learning to fish in lakes. The new walleye fisherman many times gets discouraged on their first river fishing trip because of a poor catch and make the decision to not try again. You need to be able to adjust your walleye fishing technique by learning how the river currents and the fluctuation of the water levels effects the walleye on the river you intend to fish.
The only time you will find walleyes in a fast current is if there is some type of a current break the walleyes can hold in and dart out into the current for food, then dart back to the break. As a rule of thumb, you can eliminate approximately 75% of the water in rivers because the current is to strong for walleyes to hold in.
Concentrate your search in areas that are known to hold walleye such as small pools out of the currents path, downstream from any current break, a bridge or a large rock formation. A very good example would be a downstream island. Look upstream for areas that provide a likely current break areas such as made made formations to reduce river silting. Any upstream obstruction that has potential to break the current may hold walleyes.
The holy grail of river walleye fishing are the current edges. These are as important to finding walleyes in rivers as structure is to finding walleye in lakes. The river walleye will go into the current looking for food, then dart back into the slack water adjacent to the current to rest.
Experienced river walleye anglers know the ideal time to fish for walleye is when water levels are low, there is good water clarity and stable water flow. Walleyes are very predicable when the water levels are stable and the water is clear. They will be holding in in well know areas of the river.
If you are going to go river walleye fishing when the river is rising to be successful you need to know where the walleye go under these conditions. Many times if you find these areas the fishing will be outstanding! when the water rises, Walleye will often go into a feeding frenzy, because of all the worms and insects that are washed into the river after the rains.

Fy fishing
Great news! You can now listen to our interview with Brian Chan on a biologist’s point of view on fly fishing trout. We interviewed Brian this week and the show was a huge hit. A lot of listeners sent in their questions, but since the show was only about 90 minutes, Brian wasn’t able to answer everything. Well, don’t worry because we’ve scheduled a part two of the interview and we will try to fit in all your questions.
A fisheries biologist is well-versed with the ways of the trout and how and where to catch them. Brian spent his career managing recreational trout fisheries, worked on habitat protection and management plans for various lakes.
He said that trout are usually present in eutrophic lakes. These are lakes that are shallow and us and usually have intermittent or no inlets or outlets, which means that they have low flushing rates. The soils and geology around it make them nutrient-rich so that they grow insects for fish.
Brian talked about several other topics including alkaline and acidic lakes, spring and winter turnovers, thermocline, the main food sources for trout, and a lot of other stuff.

One Paddle Will Improve Your Next Kayak Fishing Experience!

Kayak fishing is one of the fastest growing sports in the outdoor sporting and paddle sports markets. With this explosion of growth, came opportunity. Kayak fishermen are beginning to reap the benefits of new concepts and technologies in advancing their sport. Having said that, kayak anglers and sportsmen are clamoring for new equipment, paddle gear and accessories to stay ahead of their competition.
“It was a fishing comedy on water.” I mused from afar. Jim was in the salt water flats flailing a seven foot kayak paddle. He was trying to hold onto an eight foot fishing pole while chasing a redfish through the mangroves. I thought to myself, “He needs another hand to juggle that kayak paddle while holding his rod.”
Paddle or fish? All kayak fishermen have experienced the difficulty of paddling your kayak and holding your fishing rod. How do you hold onto your eight foot fishing rod with one hand and stealthily paddle your kayak with the other? No matter how you wrestle that seven foot kayak paddle, it requires two hands. Something has to be set down to do the other.
That is when the kayak fishing hand paddle design concept was born. They are a simple solution to a perplexing problem encountered while kayak fishing. Who would of thought?
It had been noted that intrepid kayak anglers and sportsmen could be found with the likes of ping pong paddles, Kadema paddles, and modified racquets silently navigating their kayaks while chasing fish. The principle concept of kayak fishing hand paddles were developed by the kayak angler and sportsmen to stealthily move their boat while continuing to fish.
Finally it was time to bring the kayak fishing hand paddle concept main stream. Today, these lightweight and ubiquitous paddles are transforming the kayak fishing sport.
Kayak fishing hand paddle designs evolved from experienced kayak anglers and sportsmen working closely with the paddle sports manufacturing community. Keeping the kayak fishing hand paddles fully functional was the primary interest. Providing a light weight, durable, short and floatable paddle was mandatory.
Paddle evolution has not come very far since the inception of paddle sports to the modern paddling masses. Paddle design has basically remained unchanged since the Inuit’s first stretched seal skins over wooden frames. The basic paddle blade concept has worked well until now. Nominal manufacturing and material changes resulting in preference of weight and durability reflect most purchasing decisions today. Kayak anglers have declared it is time to adapt and overcome the traditional barriers my friends!
Simply place one of these six ounce or seven ounce kayak fishing hand paddle between your legs or close by. Stow away that unwieldy seven foot kayak paddle. Grab your fishing rod. Now you can stealthily paddle and fish without spooking your prey.
There are a couple of marketable fishing hand paddles models accessible to the kayak anglers and sportsmen. After the first kayak fishing hand paddle prototypes were tested, it became apparent that having more functions would add to the benefit.
The hook and teeth blade designs became readily available and dominate the kayak fishing hand paddle market. Having a fishing hand paddle is awesome; having that ability to grab onto or push off any object with the hook and teeth is a bonus.
It works great for the kayak fishermen, sportsmen, photographers and enthusiasts who need an extra hand while practicing their paddle sport.
It is truly amazing how having that one paddle, a kayak fishing hand paddle, has made all the difference in stealthily moving your kayak without spooking your prey! Who would of thought?

Those Wily Canadian Walleye Fish

]]>
Walleye fishermen are a breed of their own. They may go out on weekend and catch a ton of those Walleyes. Yet next weekend or the next fishing trip to Canada – everything is exactly the same and yet they come back after a full day or evening or fishing empty handed. Walleye fish can bit like crazy one day, and then disappear almost invisibly over the next fortnight. For no apparent reason what so ever. And it’s to the fishing gods. Once gone – these Walleye fish – these wonderful Walleye fish – nothing but nothing can bring them back or change their determined and wily brains. Not for love, not for money, not for experience on the fishing trails of life. Nothing it seems will bring back Walleye fish when they decide not to prevail.
But, in spite of, or perhaps for these very reasons, of their unpredictable or even elusive behaviors, walleyes rank among the most popular of game fish – whether it is in the northern US states such as Minnesota, North Dakota or Wisconsin or up in Ontario or Manitoba Canada. Some fisherman or anglers choose walleye fish and fishing themselves for the challenge alone. It can be said by less dedicated or avid fisherman that it is their choice of fishes mainly because walleye fillets make for ultra prime table fare.
Walleye fish have become more widespread geographically not only because of their inherent difficulty as a caught fish but also as a result of widespread fish stocking programs they are now found in almost every state and province. It has even been tried and attempted to introduce walleyes outside North America. Such are the lure of these wonderful Walleye game fish and the challenges of Walleye fishing.
Two subspecies of walleyes have been identified in North America: the yellow walleye and the blue walleye or blue pike. The blue Walleye or blue pike species is extinct currently. All that remains to fish in the wild are the yellow walleye species. These are commonly referred to simply as “Walleye”. Since it is the only type of Walleye fish still around for anglers to go after and pursue.
In terms of coloration and coloration yellow walleyes usually have an olive-green back, golden sides and a white belly. Distinctive markings include a milky-white tip on the lower lobe of the tail and a black blotch at the rear base of the spiny dorsal fin.
In many waters, fishermen mistake the walleye for its close relative – the Auger fish. To tell the two apart it is wise to know that Saugers have a distinctly different coloration and do not grow anywhere near as large as walleye fish. To further complicate matters, walleyes and saugers sometimes mingle and hybridize, producing an offspring, who has named or nicknamed “saugeye”. These saugeye fish can be said to appear with characteristics, colorations and markings intermediate between each of the two parent fish – walleye fish and sauger fish. Luckily walleye and their close relatives – the sauger fish, have no other North American relatives. However, walleyes are closely related to the European zander fish, or pike-perch. It can be said that in comparison the two look remarkably similar but that walleyes distribute their eggs are random while their close relatives – while zander fish are nest builders.
The walleye’s common names lead to much confusion among fisherman – even avid experienced anglers. In much of Canada, walleyes are called pickerel, jackfish or Dore, the French name for the species. In the United States they are often called “Walleyed Pike”. But then again that name is a misnomer because Walleyes belong not to the pike family but instead to the perch fish family.
However no matter what a walleye is a walleye fish and no matter what a bad day spent trying to catch those elusive walleyes is always better than the best day spent at the office back in the city.

Texas Crappie Fishing – One of the Best Places in the United States

]]>
One of the best places in the United Sates for crappie fishing is Texas. Anglers travel for many miles just to enjoy the great opportunities this state has to offer. Texas crappie fishing is always at its best no matter what else changes. For example, many anglers worry about the quality of some of the fish species changing throughout the years such as the largemouth bass but the crappie always appear to stay the same no matter what else changes.
Crappies are versatile fish which means they can adapt very well to changes and they grow in numerous numbers in the reservoirs that are full of structures where they make their home. They are also located in many of the lakes throughout the state as well and they can grow to some very impressive sizes.
Great Places to Fish for Crappie in Texas
One place in Texas that is considered to have excellent crappie fishing is Lake
Conroe. Anglers agree that it is easy to catch your limit of crappie when fishing here. The crappie can be found in the brushpiles scattered all through the lake but they are most plentiful in the brushpiles that are located about twenty feet deep under the water. Using electronics can help you locate the fish much faster and easier in Lake Conroe.
You can also find plenty of crappie in Lake Cooper but the best time to fish this lake is in the winter. During the wintertime you will find large schools of shad located around the creek channels. Where you find shad there will also be plenty of crappie swimming around. When fishing this lake in the spring you should look for them in the brush and along the shorelines where the shallow water is located.
Lake Livingston produces some of the most impressive crappie when it comes to size that you will find anywhere. Not only do they grow very large in this water but they are also plentiful. Early spring is the best time of year to fish for crappie and they will be found in the creek channels with water ranging around ten to fifteen feet deep. However, during the summer they will move out to the main part of the lake around bridges, brushpiles, stumps, coves, points, wood and other structures in the water.
Tips and Information for Catching Crappie in Texas
Crappie fishing is rather easy, which is why it is great for anglers of all skill levels. The main thing that you need to keep in mind is that to have the most success you need to find the right depth where the crappie is located. Once you know the right depth you can have a lot of success reeling in the fish.
One technique used to determine the depth of the crappie is called the crocheting. To use this method you drop the bait to the bottom and let it set for a few minutes. Next you start reeling in the line slowly until you feel the crappie strike the bait. This is the depth where you need to fish. Timing your drops is another method of learning how deep the crappies are located.
