postheadericon Top Colorado Fly Fishing Ranch, Round Mountain Ranch, Reduces Price to $13.9 Million

Steamboat Springs, CO (PRWEB) May 31, 2011

One of the finest Colorado fly fishing ranches has reduced its asking price to $ 13.9 million. Round Mountain Ranch, arguably the most versatile ranch in the Rocky Mountains, features an exclusive array of amenities for the sportsman and outdoor recreationist. The 1,132+ acre property offers a rare combination of exceptional water and fishery resources, abundant wildlife, access to over a million acres of national forest and world class improvements for a high-end equestrian and/or cattle operation. Located within 20 minutes of Steamboat Springs, CO, also known as Ski Town, USA, the ranch offers extensive improvements built to the highest standards, including a 5,126 sq. ft. owner’s residence, beautifully restored river cabins, homes for guests and management, newly constructed barns, and a state-of-the-art indoor equestrian arena. For more information on this ranch or Colorado ranches for sale visit Hall and Halls website http://hallhall.com or call broker Jeff Buerger at 970/626-5151.

This is truly a multi-dimensional ranch and one of the finest properties in all of Colorado, said Buerger. Outstanding fly- fishing on approximately 1.32 miles of the Elk River, a large well-stocked private lake, healthy big-game populations, and very attractive improvements all less than 15 minutes from a jet-capable airport is a rare combination.

Round Mountain Ranch is located in the heart of the Elk River Valley in the northwest quarter of Colorado, home to the largest migratory elk herd in the United States. The Routt National Forest is adjacent to the ranch and offers phenomenal hunting and fishing resources. Elk, mule deer, and bear are the primary big-game species found in this area. The agricultural operation on the ranch is suited for cattle, yearlings, horses, and a haying operation.

This Colorado property, which has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, offers all three venues of trout fishing – river, stream and lake. The Elk River is a fertile, medium gradient river that mostly flows through private ranch land with limited public access. The average size trout on Round Mountains stretch of the river is 14 to 16 inches, with an excellent population of fish over 20 inches. The ranch’s meadow stream offers a more intimate setting and was created by the leading aquatic habitat and fisheries restoration and enhancement firm, CFI Global. The stream averages 10 feet in width and supports year-round populations of rainbow, brown and cutthroat trout. The five acre lake is a great complement to the river and stream, fishing well even when they are unfishable during spring runoff. There are huge trout in the depths of this lake.

Improvements on the ranch ensure privacy and offer an abundance of space for guests and employees. There is a 5,126 square ft. owners home, a 4,000 square ft. manager house, a 900 sq. ft. lake house, a 460 sq. ft. river cabin, a 4,000 sq. foot barn with five 12×12 horse stalls, a 6,500 sq. foot shop, a 10,000 sq. foot hay shed, and more. A video of the ranch amenities can be viewed here: http://www.hallhall.com/ranches-for-sale/RMR-video.php

Round Mountain Ranch is conveniently located near multiple airports and recreational amenities abound. Just 11 miles south of the ranch is the Steamboat Springs Airport, also referred to as Bob Adams Field. Steamboat Ski Resort is world famous for its characteristic Champagne Powder? and great tree skiing. Just north of the ranch Steamboat Lake is one of the most scenic water-ski and boating lakes in the country. Hundreds of miles of groomed trails and limitless backcountry opportunities make the Hahn’s Peak area north of the ranch one of the best snowmobiling venues in the nation. The Steamboat community attracts a wide variety of events and attractions throughout the year, such as the Pro Rodeo, Art in the Park, Mustang Roundup, Steamboat Marathon, Balloon Rodeo, Wild West Air Fest and Winter Carnival.

Sitting at the foot of the Ozark Mountains, Missouri has a rich history and an assortment of attractions to offer the entire family. Lodging in Missouri is both easy and affordable, providing ease and comfort to vacationers and business travelers alike.

Stunning History of Saint Louis Lodging

Missouri’s most famous landmark is perhaps the Gateway Arch (http://www.nps.gov/jeff/). At 630 feet high, it is the tallest national monument in the United States. Approximately one million visitors each year ride its trams to the top to take in the stunning St. Louis skyline.

Right across the street from the Arch is the Adam’s Mark St. Louis. This riverside hotel has an impressive three-story atrium in the lobby, complete with a pair of nine-foot bronze horses imported from Italy. Guestrooms offer a view of the Arch, downtown, and the Mississippi River. Cardinals fans are only two blocks from Busch Stadium, and for a fee, you can reach downtown destinations by a romantic, horse-drawn carriage.

While in St. Louis, be sure to visit the zoo, or take a stroll through historic Laclede’s Landing. In 1763, a French fur-trapper named Pierre Laclede began exploring the Illinois Country in search of a place to set up a trading post. In 1764, he chose the west bank of the Mississippi River, in the place now occupied by St. Louis. In 1784, the area he chose was cleared, cabins were built, and Laclede christened the place Saint Louis to honor the Patron Saint of the King of France.

If you have never visited this intriguing city before, you will find a variety of lodging in St. Louis within easy reach of this city’s historic landmarks and attractions.

Exciting Entertainment Near Kansas City Lodging

If you are taking a business of pleasure jaunt through Kansas City, you will be in for a surprise for the interesting lodging options available in this fine city. You will find lodging in Kansas City – Missouri’s other well-known city – that offers many affordable and comfortable options.

In the exciting casino district, try the Argosy Casino Hotel & Spa. For exciting entertainment, this Kansas City hotel includes a 62,000 square-foot casino, a luxury spa and health club, and 42″ plasma screen televisions.

For a stylish experience, the gorgeous Hotel Phillips is located in downtown Kansas City, less than two miles from Union Station. This trendy art deco hotel was built in 1931 and is on the National Register of Historic Places, and guests include many former Presidents of the United States. Live jazz and swing music is offered every Friday and Saturday night to liven up your Kansas City experience.

While in Kansas City, do not miss its many attractions, such as the Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun theme parks, the Liberty Memorial (http://www.libertymemorialmuseum.org/), and the World War I Museum. These are great for an interactive, educational experience for both little and big kids alike.

Internationally Renowned Activities by Branson Lodging

Surrounded by three lakes at the foot of the Ozarks, Branson has a large variety of activities, sight-seeing opportunities, and theme park adventures. Try taking a guided tour by motorcycle, or soar above it all on a helicopter adventure. Ride the Branson Scenic Railway, or test your mettle at the Haunted House & Monster Asylum. For a more tasteful experience, visit the Stone Hill Winery.

Just three miles from Table Rock Lake – popular for bass fishing and water sports – is Stonebridge Nightly Rentals. This 3,200 acre gated resort includes an 18-hole championship golf course, putting green, driving range, pro shop, three tennis courts, and two outdoor pools. Scuba diving in Table Rock Lake is said to rival that in the Caribbean! This is a great way to get away from it all, without having to even leave the country.

Take the kids down to visit the exciting Strip, a seven-mile stretch of amusement parks, restaurants, and shops. Branson’s newest theme park, Silver Dollar City, has a nightly laser and fireworks show that should not be missed, as it was voted the number one amusement park in the world by the International Association of Amusement Parks & Attractions. Or treat your family to the amazing Celebration City, with over 100 working craftsmen demonstrating their skills.

Missouri has many varied and interesting things to show her visitors, and lodging in Missouri makes it easy to take in her stunning sights.

A Closed Basement Drainage System

Often overlooked, the presence of an opening at wall/floor joint, whether intentional or just natural concrete shrinkage, should be sealed. One reason for this is Radon Gas. Its a fact Radon Gas enters the home through the smallest of foundation cracks. In the past it was a common practice to leave an opening at the wall/foor joint to allow a potential basement wall leak to run down the wall and enter the drainage system via this opening. It also increases humidity, musty smells and insects. (02:00)

Kansas Walleye Fishing – Where to Fish Walleye in Kansas

]]>

When you think about Kansas, many anglers forget about Kansas walleye fishing. Well you should find out more information before you write Kansas off the list of places to fish. The walleye population in Kansas has grown over the years and is attracting anglers from all over.

Since walleyes love the deeper lakes that have sandy bottoms and rock formations, many of the Kansas areas lakes and rivers are a feeding ground for walleye. They like the colder water temperatures, but have adapted to Kansas water temperatures, which are warmer is seems. The walleye tend to head for the streams connected to the lakes for spawning during the spring.

In Kansas, the anglers are using grubs, plastic worms, spinner bait, spoons, crank bait as well as live bait. During the spring months, anglers are using plastic worms, small crank baits and smaller jigs to catch the walleye that are in shallow waters as well as moderately deep waters. The prime areas are areas that are protected such as underwater timber and gravel ledges. During the summer months, Kansas anglers are fishing the shallows in the morning hours moving into deep waters as the sun comes up. Unbelievably they are using lures that resemble the crawfish to hook the walleyes.

During the fall months, they are fishing Kansas Rivers and lakes with spoons, crank baits and jigs. The winter months, the anglers use plastic worms, spoons and jigs. Clinton Lake is a popular lake for walleye fishing. Fly-fishing is the popular way to hook the walleye, but do not be surprised if you catch a catfish as well. Another hotspot in Kansas is Cedar Bluff. They are catching walleye that are as large as twenty-two inches and weighting in at six pounds. The Cedar Bluff Reservoir is located in Trego County.

Some anglers say the Page Cove is a good area to fish for walleye. The water is about thirty feet deep and it does have some underwater structures that the walleye find appealing. They stay that around the middle of May is a good time to catch a walleye with a jig and minnow or by trolling with Shad Raps. You might even find that you will have the area to yourself, since the falls months find anglers in the woods for other sport hunting. When fishing at Cedar Bluff, you should use a depth finder. The local anglers recommend this.

Another hotspot in Kansas is Cheney Lake. You will find over two miles of dam area to fish for walleye. Everyone knows that the walleye like to spawn by dams, therefore, in the spring during spawning, Cheney Lake is a great place to hook the nice pump walleye. There is a limit of two walleye a day and they have to twenty-one inches or longer to keep, but they are finding them in the lake. During the summer months, trolling the lake works the best with white, gray and silver colored lures. If you work the dam to your best ability, you are going to find some nice sized walleyes.

Catfish fishing records in the United States are recognized and recorded by the International Game Fish Association (IGFA), which keeps track of records for all manner of saltwater and freshwater fish. While breaking a record for the largest fish caught is always exciting, the variations in typical size between species makes some catfish fishing records seem much more impressive than others.

For example, channel cats are not the largest species of catfish available, though they may very well be the most plentiful since they are the least picky about habitat preference. They can be found throughout the entire country in just about any type of body of water at almost any temperature and time of year. For a fish that rarely reaches a weight greater than five or six pounds, it’s no wonder that the world record set in 1964 of 58 pounds has yet to be broken.

Where was this amazing specimen caught? The Santee-Cooper Reservoir in South Carolina was home to this monster of a channel cat, and while anglers visiting this popular fishing hole aren’t likely to rival that record any time soon, the reservoir does continue to produce large sized channel cats in excellent numbers.

Flathead catfish are a much larger breed, so catfish fishing records for these giants sound much more significant. Note that these fish are predators rather than absolute opportunists when it comes to feeding, and anglers have to use large, fresh bait to attract them.

Flatheads are easily 30 pounds on a regular basis and will put up a fight, so fishermen aiming for these trophies are especially bold. This makes the 91.25-pound record flathead caught in 1982 in Lake Lewisville, Texas an even more impressive catch. However, the record has since been broken by an unbelievable catch at Elk City Reservoir in Kansas.

Believe it or not, in 1998, a 123-pound flathead was pulled from the reservoir, blowing the old record out of the water (no pun intended).

The most recent catfish fishing record breaker, however, was a blue catfish. Probably the largest species in the United States and all of North America, these babies are regularly found at weights of over 90 pounds.

Everyone thought that the record set in 2004 at Lake Texoma, Texas with the 121-pound blue catfish catch would remain unbroken for at least several years. This was proved wrong, however, with the grand old Mississippi River near Alton, Illinois yielding a 124-pound blue cat in May of 2005.

To give you an idea of the true size of this beast, it was just short of five feet in length (58 inches) and 44 inches around (nearly four feet).

Stink Bait and Live Bait strategy in Big Catfish’s fishing

A long-lived debate amongst catfish anglers worries which fishing lure is most powerful for catching major catfish: smell fishing bait or dwell fishing lure. The reply is each. That is why: Catfish possess a sense of scent a lot more potent than a bloodhound’s and so they goal wounded prey with shark-like ferocity. But that is the bottom line: Smell fishing lure catches probably the most catfish, but dwell fishing lure catches the greatest. Preferred stay baits contain even…
